Maybe things like Twilight are really insidious vampire propaganda. If I were a vampire, it'd sure be awesome if the young ladies were waiting up at night dreaming of the moment when some good-looking vampire swoops in their window and "Yeah, Vlad, I scarfed down two teenagers last night. This is a lot easier than the days when there was screaming and torches and pitchforks. The last one practically threw herself on my fangs..." Of course, this demanded comic-fication.
